Bed Bath & Beyond was approved for tax incentives late Tuesday evening for its commitment to a new 48,000 square foot data center building located in Catawba County, North Carolina. This Fortune 300 company adds to the growing roster of corporate data centers in the North Carolina region.
Five 9s Digital partnered with the building owner to take the facility to the market as a data center in 2011. The building was Best Data Sites Certified™ by Mission Critical Consultants and provided a great opportunity for new data center initiatives searching for options in North Carolina.
Bed Bath & Beyond will join some of the newcomers to the state such as Apple, Google, Disney, AT&T, WiPro, American Express, Facebook and others.
“The availability of low cost, highly reliable power, attractive tax incentives, the low risk of natural disasters, and fiber connectivity are all factors that contribute to the success of the region for new corporate data centers,” states Josh Price, Director of Marketing and Research for Five 9s Digital.
The data center building selected by Bed Bath & Beyond is located in Catawba County in a master planned data center development in the City of Claremont. Five 9s Digital has completed design plans to commence with a second 50,000 square foot data center expandable to over 100,00 square feet ideal for future corporate data center initiatives.
Jones Lang LaSalle represented Bed Bath & Beyond in the transaction.
“We are very appreciative of the cooperation of both Catawba County and the City of Claremont and look forward to continuing to work together,” CEO of Bed Bath and Beyond, Steven Temares said.
Bed Bath & Beyond’s expected investment on this project is estimated to be approximately $37 million.
