DataChambers expands its colocation footprint into the Raleigh, North Carolina market. Five 9s Digital, a mission critical real estate company, has been marketing a vacant 50,000 square foot data center on behalf of Centurylink since last year in Garner, NC.
“Centurylink had several years remaining on the lease in the building which has been considered as excess space for the company,” states Josh Price with Five 9s Digital. “Our job was to find a company that could utilize the data center and related infrastructure already in the building and DataChambers turned out to be a perfect fit.” DataChambers, instead of subleasing the space from Centurylink, decided to purchase the data center from its owner and a mutually agreed upon cancellation of lease with Centurylink was negotiated.
Rich Miller of Data Center Knowledge reports that, “The company [DataChambers] said it will make a significant investment in infrastructure and upgrades at the building, which was previously occupied by Qwest Communications, with completion expected early in 2013.”
Additionally, the Triangle Business Journal reports, “The new Raleigh location doubles DataChamber’s footprint. The company currently operates two data centers in Winston-Salem.”
